Where can I take surveys online for free?

Who knows the latest on this? I'd like to earn a little money by taking surveys online, but I don't want to pay to join anything or to get any information. Are there any legitimate places out there that will pay me for my opinions and not scam me? Thanks!

You're right - most of the places you will find are complete rip-offs... simply lists of sites that may or may not work, and you have to pay to access them. However, here are a few I found that don't charge you to join or to take surveys, and they reliably reward you with actual checks that you can cash or points you can use for prizes:
